Amsterdam, 30th of April 2011

My first Koniginnedag seemed to be officially over when we entered the restaurant and sat next to the window. This was a long day indeed. Watching the cleaning crews doing a hell of a job out there, I obviously couldn’t resist the temptation of filming a single last shot. With a dying battery and an almost full SD card, I set my camera on the table, mounted on my gorillapod. And then I simply framed a wide shot, pressed ‘rec’ and tried to focus on the menu. Nothing was staged here. It simply happened.

When I saw the footage in Final Cut I decided to try some music on. Since I still didn’t know what to do with this shot, it just seemed a good idea at the time…
